Site Decor & Weddings Assistant Job Description

 

Wage: $23+/hour

Shift: Seasonal. 20-30 hours per week. Hours will vary depending on event schedule.

Summary: Thanksgiving Point is seeking a part-time Floral Designer & Decorator to support weddings, corporate events, venue installations, and seasonal décor. This individual should have strong floral design skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, physically demanding event environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and create floral arrangements based on approved recipes, inspiration images, color palettes, and event specifications.
  • Produce bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, centerpieces, ceremony florals, statement pieces, and other event arrangements.
  • Assist with large-scale floral installations, including arches, hanging installations, chandeliers, urns, entry displays, and stage décor.
  • Style and install candles, vessels, linens, signage, tabletop décor, greenery, and other decorative elements.
  • Process, condition, organize, and maintain fresh flowers and greenery while monitoring product quality.
  • Prepare floral mechanics and supplies, including containers, foam, wire, water tubes, and installation structures.
  • Pull, organize, pack, load, and unload flowers, décor, tools, and event materials.
  • Assist with event setup, installation, and strike, including inventory return and cleanup.
  • Maintain floral workspaces, tools, storage areas, inventory, and equipment; report damaged or low-stock items.
  • Follow production schedules and event timelines to ensure accurate, on-time execution.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with the Floral & Site Décor Manager and event teams.
  • Communicate project updates, supply needs, concerns, and potential delays clearly and professionally.
  • Represent Thanksgiving Point professionally when interacting with clients, vendors, venue staff, and guests.
  • Follow safety procedures and assist with seasonal décor, holiday installations, styled shoots, and other special projects.
  • Utilize TripleSeat or other event management software to review event details, assignments, and communicate discrepancies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Professional floral design experience, preferably in weddings, events, or production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of floral care, mechanics, design principles, color theory, scale, and composition.
  • Experience with event installations, setup, and strike.
  • Ability to consistently execute an established design vision and maintain quality standards.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize under tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable receiving feedback, adapting quickly, and working in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience with TripleSeat or similar event/project management software is preferred.
  • Dependable, punctual, proactive, and calm under pressure.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
  • Availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying event schedules.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 40-50 pounds, and work on ladders and in indoor/outdoor environments.
  • Be at least 16 years old.
  • Must pass a background check.
