Floral and Fine Gardening Technician / Horticulturist (Part-time)
Pay rate: $18 - $21 per hour depending on experience

If you have a passion for gardening and the outdoors, join us at Glengate in our Floral and Fine Gardening Department! With opportunities in container design, perennial garden maintenance, pest and disease identification and vegetable garden care, day to day work is always varied and exciting!
You will learn and hone your skills in the field while maintaining some of the most highly regarded landscapes in Fairfield and Westchester counties. Our horticulturists create and maintain landscapes for clients who truly appreciate our horticultural knowledge, craft, and professionalism.
Our busy team must be available for scheduled hours of 8 - 10 hours per day during peak season and some Saturdays when needed. This is a seasonal full-time (30 - 40 hours) position (April to Mid-October) with potential for overtime as needed during peak season. Future progression into a full-time seasonal crew leader position for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
Maintenance of gardens and landscapes including but not limited to: deadheading, cutbacks, watering, fertilizing, staking and application of appropriate garden products as needed
Rose care program
Vegetable garden design, planting and maintenance
Seasonal container and bedding design, planting and maintenance
Requirements
Ability to lift 50+ pounds, bend and stand for long periods of time
Love of the outdoors and gardens
Attention to detail and commitment to excellence
Ability to work both independently and with a team
Strong organizational and communication skills
Strong work ethic, demonstrable ability in prioritization
Valid driver's license preferred
Strongly preferred - at least 1 year experience maintaining perennial gardens, vegetable gardens, annual plantings, rose pruning
Ability to speak Spanish a plus
