POSITION: Seasonal Horticulturist (Position Starts April 1, 2023)

REPORTS TO: Head Horticulturist and Assistant horticulturist
HOURLY RATE: $19.00 + OVERTIME
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To be a preeminent country club in the nation by providing a haven for members and their families to create long-lasting memories and friendships through unparalleled experiences.
The Denver Country Club is currently searching for highly motivated, team-oriented individuals for our 2024 Grounds Crew. Seasonal grounds crew staff reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and Horticulturist. Must be ready to start work on or around April 1, 2024. About the club:
Established in 1887, Denver Country Club is recognized as the first club west of the Mississippi and one of the most prestigious private clubs in the country. The 585 member, by invitation only private club, hosts an 18 hole golf course, two indoor golf simulators (Foresight Quads), indoor and outdoor tennis, platform tennis, pickleball, ice hockey, lawn bowling, croquet, casual and fine dining. The club has a long history of golf championships including the Denver Open (PGA Tour Event 1962-1964), Trans-Mississippi Amateur (2022), Pacific Coast Amateur and Curtis Cup (1984). A Golf Course renovation was completed in 2020 - Gil Hanse. The renovation has helped to secure Denver Country Club as one of the premier golf courses in the Western United States. The Golf Shop is consistently recognized as an AGM Platinum Award Winning Golf Shop (Top 100) and has been recognized as a multiple winner of the Colorado Section PGA Merchandiser of the Year - Private Category.

JOB SUMMARY:
The seasonal horticulturist, under the supervision of the head horticulturist, installs and manages the ornamental landscaping for the golf course and clubhouse properties. We have over 70 planters filled with gorgeous flowers and other ornamental plants. There are about 25 perennial and shrub gardens throughout the golf course and Clubhouse areas. We are also fortunate to see the sunrise every morning and witness wildlife while we work!
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains gardens on and around the golf course, clubhouse grounds and other buildings.
- Plants annual flower beds, shrubs and perennials.
- Walk and mow clubhouse turf
- Trim and prune hedges and shrubbery.
- Operates and maintains low-pressure irrigation systems for landscaping.
- Performs routine maintenance of ornamental plantings- examples include: weeding, deadheading, mulching, edging, trash collecting, watering, pruning, etc.
- Listen and follow directions and ask questions when needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Genuine interest in ornamental plant material and plant health.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly.
- Great physical range of motion including: bending, kneeling, reaching, etc.
- Must be punctual and ready to work at scheduled time.
- Work outdoors for extended period of time.
- Work 40-44 hours per week including some weekends
