Description

 Summary of Position: 

Lead and manage natural resources projects and surveys, specifically biology and botany in the Northern Marianas. Oversight of staff, project planning and project management, interface with clients and conduct/oversees natural resources assessments. 

   

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and provide support for natural resources assessments and management activities with a heavy emphasis on project planning, field studies, data entry and report writing to document field studies, development of management plans and permitting.
  • Conduct a wide range of natural resources projects, which could include field studies to support flora and fauna surveys, habitat assessments and management, threatened and endangered species surveys, ecological monitoring and wetland and aquatic resources characterizations and assessments. 
  • Provide support for the development of proposals and associated costing for natural resources related projects. 
  • Analyze and interpret data and present synthesis of findings in a written report.
  • Conduct Project activities such as preparation of cost estimates and proposals, work plans, job cost tracking, and oversight of field activities, staff, and subcontractors. 
  • Responsibilities include client interaction and oversight of natural resources assessments

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Use Global Positioning System (GPS) units to document locations and remote monitoring plots and transects.
  • Able to work with a team of other natural resource specialists to complete project work.
  • Able to work in remote setting in a karst environment.
  • Prior experience in field work for project study within an island ecosystem and can identify flora in the field and office using dichotomous keys.
  • Experience with Microsoft suite of software, Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Good written, verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Four years full-time demonstrated professional experience working within the natural resource studies, surveys, organizing projects, and environmental media areas in the Pacific and Northern Marianas.
