Associated Grocers is seeking a Floral/Produce Merchandiser to join our Retail Operations Team!
In this role, you will work closely with our Member-Retailers in the Lafayette region to enhance store performance and drive profitability. Key responsibilities include assisting with the planning and layout of equipment for new and remodeled stores, as well as evaluating produce and floral departments to provide impactful, data-driven recommendations.
You will also support the setup of shelving and product displays to maximize visual appeal and sales, while serving as a vital liaison between Member-Retailers and warehouse personnel to ensure strong communication, streamlined coordination, and improved operational efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Evaluate existing equipment and recommend improvements where required.
- Evaluate performance of and train produce/floral personnel at Member-Retailer locations and communicate with store owner/manager.
- Ensure produce quality compares with expected standards.
- Review product cost and suggested retail price in relation to competition.
- Recommend competitive retail price consideration where appropriate.
- Assist Member-Retailers in preparing a budget for their produce/floral departments as necessary.
- Explore reasonable promotional opportunities to build produce sales and increase profit.
- Compare Member-Retailer’s produce quality with competition.
- Inform purchasing department on Member-Retailer requests.
- Act as a liaison between warehouse and Member-Retailers.
Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer Skills
- Must have basic working knowledge of computers to include Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Must maintain an appropriate motor vehicle record and a valid driver’s license.
- The ability to acquire and maintain a State of Louisiana Retail Floral license.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of grocery and produce products
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Operate harmoniously and cooperatively with others within and outside of department. Must promote a positive work environment.
Other Qualifications
- Ability to travel 5-6 nights/month, up to 2 weeks at new store openings
