WWRC's Facility Services Department is currently searching for a Horticulturist Grounds Worker. The incumbent in this position will support the WWRC Grounds Department by performing horticulture maintenance on campus and assisting other campus ground staff with other responsibilities. This position also performs a variety of horticultural duties, including but not limited to providing environmental and grounds maintenance, such as planting and pruning trees, shrubs, grass, and flowers; adhering to best horticultural practices to prevent disease and damage to trees, flowers, turf, ornamentals, and water plants as necessary; and maintaining the campus greenhouse for facility service and student use. The role also involves providing grounds maintenance for mulch and rock bed areas; removing weeds; or overseeing the contractor for spraying weeds, herbicides, and pesticides using a licensed applicator.
This wage position will work an average of 30-32 hours a week. Work hours may be reduced during the winter due to a lack of horticultural work. The work schedule may vary depending on the needs of the agency.
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
Knowledge/Experience:
Knowledge of all aspects of grounds care and maintenance
Knowledge of best practices in horticulture.
Experience in horticulture including planting, transplanting, maintaining, trimming, and pruning trees, flowers, and shrubs.
A valid driver’s license is required.
Skills/Abilities:
Ability to communicate and work with the public and co-workers.
