Job Summary
The Florist is responsible for the daily floral design, production, and operational needs of the floral department. This role creates beautiful, high‑quality floral arrangements for the retail case, fulfills customer and special orders, and ensures all flowers and plants are properly cared for and maintained.
The Florist manages floral ordering, inventory, and seasonal planning to ensure the department remains well‑stocked, visually appealing, efficient, and aligned with The Hungry Moose’s quality and design standards. This position is hands‑on and production‑focused, combining creativity with organization, planning, and attention to detail. This role does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
Floral Design & Production
Create floral arrangements for the retail case to maintain appropriate stock levels
Design and prepare floral arrangements for customer orders, events, and special occasions
Maintain consistent design quality and visual standards across all floral displays
Support large or high‑volume floral orders during peak periods and special events
Work efficiently while maintaining high quality and design standards
Floral Care & Product Handling
Receive, process, and properly condition incoming flower and plant shipments
Ensure proper care, handling, and storage to maintain freshness and longevity
Refresh floral bucket water regularly and maintain clean containers
Maintain clean, organized floral coolers and storage areas
Ordering, Inventory & Department Operations
Order flowers and floral supplies to maintain appropriate inventory levels
Monitor product movement, manage shrink, and adjust ordering to minimize waste
Inspect floral shipments for quality and accuracy upon arrival
Organize, price, and stock incoming floral products and supplies
Maintain organized, clean, and customer‑ready workspaces and displays
Seasonal Planning & Event Preparation
Plan and prepare for seasonal demand and peak sales periods such as Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day
Adjust ordering and production levels to meet anticipated demand
Prepare floral products and displays for store promotions, holidays, and special events
Collaborate with store leadership to support seasonal and event goals
Customer, Team & Store Support
Provide friendly, professional customer service related to floral products and special orders
Communicate clearly and positively with coworkers and store leadership
Follow all store policies, safety procedures, and health department regulations
Assist with department cleaning, trash removal, recycling, and other duties as assigned
Rotate through cashier duties as required to support grocery crew during peak times and maintain Alcohol Serving Safety Certification.
Participate in department or store meetings and trainings as requested
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in floral design, floral production, or a related field
Experience working in a retail, grocery, or customer‑facing environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience ordering floral inventory and managing product levels
Experience planning for seasonal or high‑volume retail events
Experience designing floral arrangements for weddings, events, or special orders
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Other Position Requirements
Availability to work a schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
Willingness to follow company policies related to sanitation, safety, and workplace procedures
