Overview






To effectively plan, organize, lead, coordinate and optimize the materials and human resources in the floral department to provide variety and high quality merchandise to maximize the sales and profits of the department while maintaining great customer service.

 

Starting pay: $22.51 per hour









Minimum Qualifications






  • Must be 18 years of age with High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful experience in floral operations (i.e., merchandising, ordering, inventorying, and pricing).
  • Complete training in the floral operations.
  • Ability to display initiative and work with limited supervision.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Completed core requirements check list.
  • Ability to work at multiple store locations as needed.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English, with the ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work at multiple store locations as needs and a scheduled based on the business needs of the stores.
  • Authorized to work within the U.S.








Responsibilities

  • Provide an open door atmosphere conducive to high associate morale and excellent customer service. Achieve the highest associate morale in the industry by managing in a style that is Respectful, Supportive and Totally Team Oriented (RSTO).
  • Commit to the “Golden Rule” and working with all associates to build a strong floral team.
  • Promote the company image as a service-oriented operation where every associate will greet, assist, render efficient service and thank customers in a prompt, courteous, friendly, and business-like manner.
  • Ensure the department achieves the standards of performance as outlined in the work and merchandising plan.
  • Communicate needs and problems to the store manager or other department as needed.
  • Plan work schedules and breaks to achieve maximum department coverage; achieve payroll consistently by scheduling within budget.
  • Account for inventory, security and expense control of the department; maintain accurate records of receiving, invoices, waste control, etc.
  • Resolve customer complaints to the full satisfaction of the customer.
  • Achieve and maintain department’s merchandising goals and standards in cooperation with store manager and department merchandisers and buyers (such as gross profit, presentation, etc.).
  • Ensure all new department associates receive proper review and job descriptions, goals, and objectives.
  • Ensure fair and consistent treatment in administering discipline to promote high associate morale.
  • Design and put together floral arrangements for all occasions, including weddings and special occasions.
  • Ensure that all products are accurately priced, and that it scans at the register.
  • Ensure accurate ordering; receive, process, rotate, display and store product deliveries to assure quality control.
  • Keep all floral merchandise rotated in accordance with company policy and product code dates and always makes use of the oldest products first (first in, first out).
  • Place customer special orders in person and over the phone.
  • Be knowledgeable about floral products and offer suggestions for cut flowers and plant care, and floral arrangements.
  • Ensure the department is merchandised in accordance with the needs of the community, and with cooperation with store manager and merchandisers and buyers.
  • Conduct weekly sales meetings with associates to establish merchandising, sales and profit objectives.
  • Possess good communication skills and the ability to conduct and facilitate department meetings.
  • Individual and department completion of the onboarding/e-learnings and checklist within 30 days of hire/entering the department.
  • Respond timely to all department mail; prepare, analyze and maintain department reports and records.
  • Perform proper plant care maintenance for both inside and outside product (i.e., watering and trimming foliage and blooms on potted plants, etc.).
  • Monitor cooler and display area temperature to ensure product quality; report refrigeration failure immediately.
  • Participate actively in the control of shrink by keeping accurate records of product dumped, lost, or damaged, and minimizing waste on product and supplies.
  • Exercise proper safety practices when lifting or moving product or using equipment, and have ability to operate department equipment and tools.
  • Practice the “Cleaner’s Creed” and proper sanitation procedures.
  • Keep back room/supply area, coolers and display cases organized and clean.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (thus compliance with all state and federal laws applicable to our industry).

Secondary Job Functions:

  • Assist with the daily inventory.
  • Inflate balloons, hang up signs, and decorate the department to fit the current season.
  • Monitor the cooler and display cases for correct temperature to assure product quality.
  • Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark downs or property defacement.
  • Other duties assigned by management.
