Overview
The Jefferson Hotel is seeking a creative, customer-focused, and detail-oriented Floral Designer / Gift Shop Assistant to join our team. This dual-role position is responsible for the design, production, and maintenance of floral arrangements throughout the hotel, including guest deliveries and special events. Additionally, the role supports the daily operations of the hotel’s Gift Shop, including sales, inventory, and merchandising. The ideal candidate will demonstrate artistic talent, excellent customer service, and strong organizational skills.
Key Requirements
Availability: Must be available to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of professional floral design experience is required.
Customer Focus: Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with guests and internal teams.
Technology: Must be proficient with point-of-sale systems, basic computer tasks, and inventory software.
Presentation: Must maintain a clean and polished appearance and work environment.
Basic Functions & Scope
Lead the floral department in daily production of high-quality floral designs for guest rooms, public spaces, private events, and external orders.
Meet with clients to plan and price floral designs for weddings and events; prepare written proposals.
Assist with seasonal hotel décor, plant maintenance, and visual presentation.
Support gift shop operations including sales, merchandising, stock management, and customer service.
Collaborate across departments to enhance the visual appeal and ambiance of the hotel.
Duties & Responsibilities
Create custom floral arrangements for guest deliveries, on-site events, and public areas.
Maintain inventory and quality of fresh flowers and plants; process floral orders with proper handling and care.
Participate in seasonal and holiday decorating efforts throughout the hotel.
Maintain plant health and presentation in public spaces.
Serve walk-in customers in the gift shop and assist with special requests.
Input sales and inventory data using the point-of-sale system and email software.
Keep work and retail areas clean, organized, and visually appealing.
Present and maintain a professional portfolio of past floral designs upon request.
Deliver outstanding customer service while working closely with guests, vendors, and hotel staff.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
3–5 years of experience in floral design, with demonstrated portfolio of original work.
Knowledge of flower types, care, handling, and floral trends.
Experience with wedding/event consultations, pricing, and proposals.
Proficient in point-of-sale systems, email, and basic computer entry.
Ability to lift floral containers and stand for extended periods.
Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
