Floral Designer/Gift Shop Assistant

The Jefferson Hotel is seeking a Floral Designer/Gift Shop Assistant.  This candidate should have at least 3 – 5 years of floral design experience.  This position will be responsible for the Floral Department and assist in seasonal decorations for the Hotel.  This position will also assist the Gift Shop with daily operations, inventory, and computer entry.

The ideal candidate should be able to:

• Create unique floral designs for hotel guests, hotel events, and outside customers.
• Meet with clients for wedding and event consultations and sales.  Write proposals for events and price them appropriately.
• Have knowledge of flowers, flower processing, and flower care
• Order and maintain an inventory of fresh flowers to meet the needs of the florist.
• Maintain plants in the public areas of the hotel.
• Complete daily orders and have arrangements on hand for walk-in sales.
• Use computerized point of sale, inventory software, and e-mail.
• Present a portfolio or pictures of created design work.
• Possess outstanding customer service skills and work well with others.
