Location: New York, NY (Brooklyn & Manhattan)
Company: Happier People Management
Compensation:
- Part-Time (Hourly): $30–$35/hour
- Full-Time (Salary): $80,000–$85,000 annually
About the Role:
Happier People Management is seeking a talented and versatile Events Floral Designer to bring immersive and elevated floral moments to life across our New York properties. This role will play a key part in shaping the creative direction and execution of florals for our event programming, from intimate gatherings and pop-up activations to full-scale weddings and brand experiences, while also overseeing our signature weekly floral refreshes.
This is a hands-on design and production role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and has a strong foundation in event florals. You’ll work closely with clients and our internal creative teams to bring floral concepts to life, from ideation through installation.
We’re open to considering candidates for either a part-time or full-time schedule based on experience and availability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Concept and execute floral design for a wide range of events, including weddings (small and large scale), pop-up activations, editorial shoots, and brand experiences.
- Lead weekly floral refresh installations at our properties in Brooklyn (SAA) and Manhattan (WSA), ensuring fresh, seasonally aligned arrangements that reflect our aesthetic.
- Collaborate directly with clients, design leads, and the Brand Experience team to bring floral visions to life.
- Handle all aspects of floral production: sourcing, ordering, prepping, and arranging.
- Install and strike event floral designs with precision, often during evenings and weekends.
- Maintain an organized and efficient floral workspace and inventory system.
- Supervise and guide part-time floral associates, providing hands-on support and creative direction as needed.
- Manage floral budgets and track expenses in alignment with project goals.
- Maintain vendor relationships with flower markets and specialty suppliers.
- Support special projects and creative campaigns as part of the larger design and experience team.
Qualifications:
- 4–5 years of professional floral design experience, with a strong background in event florals.
- Skilled in both large-format installations and detail-driven tabletop or personal florals.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a creative team.
- Strong understanding of floral mechanics, seasonality, sourcing, and care.
- Excellent time management and problem-solving skills, especially under tight deadlines.
- Comfortable working evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules.
- Physically able to lift/move up to 50 lbs and work on your feet during long installs.
- Positive, professional, and collaborative attitude.
Work Environment:
This role will require frequent travel between our Brooklyn and Manhattan properties and may include nontraditional hours, especially around events. You’ll be part of a supportive, design-forward team passionate about creating meaningful, high-impact experiences.
