Summary

The ideal candidate has experience in the event business, including fabric, carpentry, and lighting installation. They have experience in creating, setting up and striking events. They also have experience with supervising associates. They must be comfortable with using a lift and are not afraid of heights. They are also comfortable with driving a van and box truck. They must have a flexible schedule. Must be good at multitasking.

 

Essential Functions

Job duties include, although are not limited to:

  • Assist in the building, installation, and tear down of props/scenery/florals for scheduled events.
  • Supervise associates on installations and strikes of events to ensure they are done in a timely and safe manner.
  • Assist sales managers at events.
  • Ensure all vendors are the events and following proper hotel procedures.
  • Move furniture, plants, arches, and roll carpets as necessary.
  • Prepare and complete load sheets with all brought items, returned items and missing.
  • Load Sheets to be properly filled out with returned items and all missing items. Manager to be made aware of any missing or damaged items during shift.
  • Load trucks and drive trucks to events in a safe and timely manner.
  • Clean and prepare floral and production items. Prepare signs on the items for events to ensure they are installed correctly.
  • Keep all event areas and warehouse clean and tidy.
  • Assist guests and meeting planners in a friendly and professional manner, providing information on Resort facilities and activities.
  • Assist fellow associates.
  • Report any maintenance work, damage, or missing items to supervisor. Take ownership of equipment.
  • Turn in lost and found items to Manager or Security.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and report problems or service needs to Manager.
  • Maintain a safe working environment. Report and correct, if possible, any unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Ongoing training to enhance creative skills.
  • Assist with floral deliveries when needed.
  • Maintain Drivers Log by signing in and completing form in log each time you are driving a vehicle.
  • Vehicle Inspection sheet to be completed before and after each use.
  • Photos to be taken on site of any damage that occurred.
  • All doors to be secured and locked when leaving the building.
  • Orders pulled for the next day and truck loaded accordingly.
  • Parking Lot area and front entrance to be maintained before end of shift.
  • Radio etiquette & communicate internally.
  • Proper uniform is to be always worn. Black pants, black socks, black shoes, uniform shirt and neatly pressed. Shorts are permitted on outdoor setups only.
  • On site job enhancements i.e., skirting, linens, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested by managers.
  • Willingness to do Miami trip to retrieve floral orders when needed.
  • Remove trash from event areas and transport to waste disposal area.
  • Assist with plant maintenance.

 

Internal Relationships

Reports to Boca by Design managers and associates, Resort managers, guest, clients.


External Relationships

Has regular contact with Vendors, clients, guests


Qualifications

  • Understand/Speak/Read/Write English fluently
  • Must have reliable transportation and a flexible schedule.
  • Two Years Event Experience necessary
  • Comfort level of driving a BBD box truck. Valid driver’s license.


Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred, but not required. 


Physical Requirements

Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. It requires walking or standing to a significant degree, as well as reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
