Parks Technician/Horticulturist

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planting, watering, weeding, mulching, pruning, and fertilizing various plants, including flowers, shrubs, and trees.  Monitoring plants and identifying and addressing issues like pests and diseases. Deadheading flowers and maintaining the overall appearance of plant beds. Maintaining garden layouts and landscaped areas. Removing debris and litter from plant beds and surrounding areas.

PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE:
2 years of landscaping/horticulture experience preferred, but not required.

EDUCATION:
High School graduate or equivalent, preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS & TRAINING:
Must be 18 years old. Must have a valid Michigan Driver's license with a good driving record.  Ability to communicate effectively and establish good working relationships with other employees. Must be able to understand and follow oral instructions.  Pesticide license and CDL desired but not required.

START DATE & WORK SCHEDULE:
ASAP
Monday-Friday; hours vary depending on seasonal demand (typical week is Mon – Fri, 7a – 3p).
