Salary Range: $25 to $30 per hour (DOE and state)

Gjusta Goods & Flower Shop: Goods for cooking, gathering, and living - daily essentials created and curated for our restaurants, brought together in a space two doors down from Gjusta Bakery. Transforming our bakery's former dry goods storage space into a space to sell our handmade ceramics, locally produced linens, favorite homewares, homemade pantry, items, cooking staples, vintage clothing, finds from our travels and local flowers, Gjusta Goods & Flower Shop remains an evolving space to share our favorite things with our community.




POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead Florist at Gjusta Goods & Flower Shop is responsible for overseeing all floral operations, ensuring the highest quality in design, product sourcing, and customer experience. This role involves planning and executing workshops, managing custom orders, and guiding the team in delivering exceptional floral arrangements. The Lead Florist will play a crucial role in maintaining the shop's reputation for excellence, creativity, and local, seasonal aesthetics.






The position is both creative and operational, requiring expertise in floral design, knowledge of flower care and procurement, and strong leadership skills to manage day-to-day activities. You will work closely with the Shop Manager and oversee the scheduling, training, and performance of the floral team, while also engaging directly with customers, clients, and vendors.






ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned):





  • Report for duty on time and ensure you use the time clock to check in and out.





  • Manage your time, including taking rest and meal breaks, in compliance with California Labor Law.





  • Maintain high standards of appearance and hygiene, including clean clothes, nails, and hair, and no heavy perfumes/colognes.





  • Know our regulars and encourage new guests to become regulars by establishing a rapport that includes the guests' likes & dislikes.





  • Second hand and support the Store Manager with any needs, responsibilities, and leadership tasks given.





  • Learn and be able to explain the stories behind the items we make and sell.





  • Responsible for maintaining knowledge of all items in store (care instructions, uses, vendor information, etc)





  • Understanding the Gjelina Group brand, vendors, seasonal stems, and farm(ers) stories.





  • Admin correspondence such as orders, client calls, and basic deliverables.





  • Maintain an organized email inbox with consistent and clear communication between staff and customers.





  • Assist with social media content.





  • Assist in coordinating and facilitating pop-ups.





  • Responsible for training and educating new shop associates.





  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and shop floor, including but not limited to: trash removal and sweeping the perimeter of the building, sweeping and mopping shop floors, bathroom upkeep, etc.)





  • Assist in sourcing, processing, and producing weekly floral products for Gjusta Flower Shop, Gjelina Group Properties, Events, Installs, & Wholesale Accounts.





  • Fulfill daily orders for walk-in customers, Gjelina Group properties, deliveries, wholesale, pre-orders; as well as Holidays & events





  • Understand weekly sales goals and work to meet them.





  • Assist in weekly upkeep on all Gjelina Group property florals.





  • Opening and closing the shop, running daily sales reports, and sending end-of-day emails.





  • Assist the Manager and other teammates in all daily tasks necessary for shop function and financial success.





  • Floral Design & Production: Lead the design and creation of all flower arrangements, from small daily orders to large-scale event installations, ensuring each arrangement aligns with the Gjusta Goods brand aesthetic.





  • Workshops & Events: Plan, coordinate, and lead workshops and private events, including selecting themes, sourcing materials, and teaching participants.





  • Vendor Relations & Procurement: Source seasonal and local flowers, establish strong relationships with suppliers, and manage all purchasing from the flower mart and local growers.





  • Custom Orders & Client Management: Oversee all aspects of private orders, from initial consultation to final delivery, ensuring client satisfaction and maintaining high-quality standards.





  • Team Leadership: Train and mentor the floral team, assist with scheduling, and delegate tasks. Provide on-the-job training to new team members and ensure adherence to company standards.





  • Operational Management: Maintain inventory of supplies and tools, manage order fulfillment, and handle logistics for deliveries and event setups.





  • Brand Representation: Act as a brand ambassador by providing personalized customer service, explaining the stories behind our arrangements, and representing Gjusta Goods in the community.





  • Shop Maintenance: Ensure the flower shop remains well-organized, clean, and welcoming. Oversee daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, and manage cash handling and register operations.





QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty.   • 3+ years of experience in floristry, with demonstrated expertise in floral design and event coordination.





  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in retail - previous experience selling handmade and vintage homewares is a plus.





  • Strong understanding of flower care, seasonality, and sourcing from local suppliers.





  • Experience leading a team and managing floral and retail operations, including workshops and private events.





  • Exceptional communication skills (in-person, via phone, and email) with a customer-focused approach.





  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, including managing multiple projects simultaneously.





  • Proficiency in point-of-sale systems and inventory management platforms (e.g., Shopify, Stocky).





  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintain composure under pressure, and solve problems creatively.





  • Ability to work in the shop alone and cover all necessary duties.





  • Flexible schedule availability, including weekends, early mornings, and holidays.
