About the Shop
We are Emil Yedowitz Florists, a small family-owned flower shop that has been serving the
lower Hudson Valley out of our Yonkers, NY shop for over 100 years. The previous owner, Bob
Yedowitz, is retiring and has decided to pass on the business to a new family and a new
generation. Several members of our family, the Ellman-Davila family, have been working at this
shop for a long time, with some working here for over 30 years.
Our goal is to preserve the craftsmanship, personal service, and community relationships that
built the shop, while thoughtfully expanding the customers and occasions we serve. Our
established work includes daily retail orders, sympathy arrangements, and designs for businesses,
hotels, country clubs, funeral homes, and faith communities. As we grow the business, we plan
to expand into wedding, quinceañera, prom, restaurant, corporate, and special-event businesses.
About the Position
We are seeking an ambitious floral designer who is interested in growing along with our
business, and helping to shape its future. We are a small team of only 6 people, so every team
member plays a critical role in our shared success. The Lead Floral Designer will have
substantial creative freedom while working within the shop's quality and pricing standards. This
is a hands-on position for someone who can consistently produce polished arrangements, manage
multiple orders and deadlines, and provide day-to-day direction to seasonal and junior floral
designers. Our ideal candidate is someone who can design and/or mimic floral arrangements for
a wide variety of occasions, is comfortable working with customers to produce designs that fit
their vision, and who enjoys collaborating closely with a tight-knit team to help everyone
succeed.
Hours and Compensation
● 32 - 40 hours per week, with paid overtime during busy seasons
● $22/hour + Annual Profit Share Bonus
This business has always been family owned and operated, so we know that to keep the family
healthy, everyone needs to share in our successes. Since we want every member of our team to
be just as invested in the business’ success as we are, we offer a share of the business’ profits to
every core employee. That means that if you help us grow the business, then your pay will grow
right along with it. Of course, bonuses are not guaranteed if the business has a bad year but we,
the owners, do not take salaries from the business and are paid only through profit sharing, so
rest assured that if we get a bonus, then you will too.
Schedule and Work Environment (Legal Disclosure)
This is a full-time, on-site position, typically scheduled for 32-40 hours per week. The schedule
will vary with customer demand and may include weekends, holidays, early mornings, or
additional hours during peak floral periods. Overtime will be paid in accordance with applicable
law.
The work includes prolonged standing, detailed handwork, frequent bending and reaching, and
safely moving floral supplies and completed arrangements. Qualified applicants must be able to
perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
