Horticulture Maintenance I - Horticulturist
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Horticulture Manager, the Horticulture Maintenance I shall carry out general landscape maintenance tasks to all Park District facilities but specifically focusing on the Palatine Hills Golf Course. This position requires basic to moderate knowledge of general grounds maintenance tasks to include operation of equipment used for mowing, landscaping, snow removal, and other related tasks, including the care of the district’s trees and flower/shrub beds, which involves planting annual flowers, watering, weed control, and mechanical pruning.
Work will include evenings and weekends when needed as well as assisting with special events, along with other Parks Department duties as assigned. Overtime will be required as needed. The Horticulture Maintenance I position is in the Parks Department and is a full-time, full-benefited, non-exempt position.
Minimum Requirements
- High school graduate
- 1-3 years working experience in landscape construction and/or landscape maintenance industry
- Knowledge of general landscape maintenance activities, such as mowing, pruning trees and shrubs, landscape beds, and snow removal
- Be able to operate basic hand and power tools
- Illinois Pesticide Operator License is required within twelve (12) months of employment

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), fully benefited position. The hiring salary range is $22.50-$24.20 per hour; starting salary is contingent on qualifications.
