The Floral Manager leads the Floral Department to deliver fresh, high-quality arrangements, visually appealing displays, and exceptional customer service. This role is responsible for driving sales, managing inventory, and developing a skilled team while maintaining high standards for creativity, presentation, and freshness.
Key Responsibilities Department Operations
- Oversee daily floral operations including ordering, design, production, and inventory control
- Ensure product freshness, proper handling, and minimal shrink through effective rotation and care
- Create attractive, seasonal, and promotional displays to drive impulse sales
- Maintain full, clean, and visually appealing cases, tables, and displays
Customer Experience
- Deliver outstanding service by assisting customers with floral selections, custom arrangements, and special orders
- Provide creative recommendations for events, holidays, and occasions
- Ensure the department maintains a welcoming and visually engaging shopping environment
Team Leadership & Development
- Hire, train, and develop floral associates and designers
- Provide coaching on floral design techniques, product knowledge, and customer service
- Create schedules aligned with business needs and seasonal demand
- Promote teamwork, creativity, and accountability within the department
Financial Performance
- Drive sales through effective merchandising, promotions, and upselling opportunities
- Manage expenses including inventory, shrink, and labor to meet department goals
- Monitor key metrics such as sales, margin, and waste reduction
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and care of all floral products
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all prep and sales areas
- Follow company policies and safety standards, including equipment use and chemical handling
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous floral, retail, or management experience preferred
- Knowledge of floral design, products, and care techniques
- Strong leadership, communication, and creative skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, seasonal environment
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in refrigerated and backroom environments
- Use of floral tools and equipment
