ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Floral Design & Operations:
- Create the overall vision and methods of execution for all floral needs across the campus.
- Design floral displays for the hotel, Trellis, Club, and other areas to maintain a fresh and appealing aesthetic that coincides with seasonal trends.
- Select and maintain interior plants throughout the property.
- Determine the type of arrangement needed based on occasion, date, time, and location.
- Consider customer budget when making recommendations.
- Take phone orders, wrap arrangements, and contact guests/customers when floral displays have been completed
- Ensure consistent quality, cost-effectiveness, and exceptional guest experience.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and wholesalers to ensure an adequate supply of flowers and plants to meet customers' needs.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of different flower types, their colors, sizes, and seasonal availability of flowers and plants.
- Must have working relationships with wholesale vendors for floral, greenhouse, and operational supplies
- Stay current with floral trends, seasonal flowers, and design techniques to continually enhance the floral offerings.
Event Management:
- Design and execute floral displays for internal and external events, including weddings, banquets, and special occasions.
- Work with clients and event planners to produce professional proposals for special events including floor plans, vision boards, and pricing using outside resources as needed.
- Manage event setup and teardown of all installations.
Marketing & Sales
- Work with the social media and marketing teams to keep relevant content fresh and frequent on our sites.
- Be proactive with ideas to generate new revenue streams on and off campus.
- Create an Annual Floral Event Calendar to capitalize on sales.
- Coordinate products for photo shoots and assist in content development for social media and marketing.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage budgets, revenue, and expense controls.
- Create pricing guides to meet markup goals.
- Manage expenses and prepare end-of-month reporting related to the department P&L.
- Perform monthly inventories and establish par levels of supplies for resale and operational purposes.
- Communicate financial performance to the Director of Brand Strategy.
Staff Management & Development
- Supervise and train the floral design team, providing guidance and support to ensure team members excel in their role.
- Schedule staff coverage for daily work and events, ensuring appropriate management of labor resources.
- Oversee employee relations issues for the department.
- Conduct meetings to communicate with direct reports.
- Help develop and cultivate a strong service culture amongst staff.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 5-10 years of floral design management experience that includes leading a team
- Demonstrated creative and artistic floral design experience
- Strong professional presentation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong supervisory skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
- Ability to receive feedback and produce arrangements accordingly.
- Ability to maintain friendly, cordial relations with all departments, employees, and vendors.
- Experienced managing financial goals.
- Ability to maintain poise and to deal effectively with guests, management, employees, and outside contacts.
- Ability to drive a van/truck for off-property delivery and set up services
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Sui8te and experience with design software is a plus.
- Hours required: Scheduled days and hours vary based on departmental needs. Must be open to working a flexible schedule, including holidays, weekends and high business demand times (i.e. Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Christmas, etc.). Some work will be performed off property for special events.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to meet the following minimum physical requirements for at least an eight-hour shift:
- Physical Stamina: Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders and stairs, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting and carrying various objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work safely and effectively in outdoor temperatures. This position requires working indoors in a floral shop environment and outdoors for plant care and event setups. The role may involve exposure to varying temperatures and conditions. Must be comfortable working in a physically demanding environment and with various floral materials and equipment. This position will work in a fast-paced environment, with the potential for off-site events. The floral design studio may have varying temperatures to ensure flower freshness, and the role may require extended hours during peak event seasons.
- Hearing / Speech: Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers and use a 2-way radio to communicate clearly and accurately with co-workers.
- Vision: Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets. Must be able to work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.
- Literacy: Must be able to produce, read and understand reports, including security, incident and police reports. Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate content of reports.
- Chemicals/Agents: Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes and regulatory requirements.
