WestLand is actively seeking an on-call Field Botanist to support our environmental consulting practice across the Southwest. WestLand specializes in the technical and procedural requirements necessary for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Clean Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act. Our biological resources practice includes development of natural resource management plans; conducting ecological investigations and base-line studies; and mitigation planning, design, and implementation.

What will I be doing?

• Conducting field surveys and investigations including rare plant surveys and polygon clearance surveys


• Vegetation descriptions and characterizations


• Vegetation sample designs


• Management and training junior field crewmembers.


• Developing permitting/compliance documents.


• Managing some project-related tasks.


• Supporting other projects within the department.

What qualifications are required for this role?

• Bachelor's degree in a related field. Advanced degree strongly preferred.


• Demonstrated experience with field-oriented investigations and managing field crews.


• Ability to identify on sight Southwest flora.


• Excellent communication skills.


• Ability to navigate physically in various environment including those with exposure to extreme temperatures and rough terrain.


• Experience in the Western United States strongly preferred.


• Working knowledge of relevant biological/botanical permitting processes also preferred.

The salary range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00 per hour.
