Centered in the heart of Johns Creek, Georgia, St Ives Country Club has maintained a standard of private club excellence since 1989. We are seeking an experienced full-time Horticulturist/Landscape Manager to oversee the daily maintenance of and enhancements to the entire beautiful grounds around our Clubhouse, Front Entrance, and Club Facilities. The Horticulturist/Landscape Manager is a salaried exempt role that reports to the Director of Agronomy.
The Horticulturist/Landscape Manager oversees all aspects of St Ives Country Club’s landscaping and grounds maintenance and enhancements.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Scheduling, designing, and implementing the installation of all annual flowers.
Pruning and trimming of all shrubs and plants around the Clubhouse, Club grounds, and Pool facilities.
Watering of all plants and flowers across the Club grounds by hand watering and using the irrigation system.
Mowing and edging the turf of the Clubhouse grounds and entrances.
Working with the Director of Agronomy to determine any maintenance needs for the entire property.
Daily blowing of Clubhouse grounds and surrounding parking lots.
Scheduling pine straw and mulch applications when needed.
Proper application of fertilizer and chemical scheduling to be carried out by our certified chemical applicators.
Weeding flower beds and other areas as needed.
Tree care, including disease detection and light pruning.
Occasionally assists with golf course maintenance during large golf events.
Train, mentor, and evaluate all landscaping grounds staff.
Carry out requests and instructions given by the Director of Agronomy in a timely manner.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including high heat and high humidity.
Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, and twist or reach.
Push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds.
Continuous repetitive motions.
The assigned work schedule will be determined once hired.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Pesticide Applicator license preferred, but not required.
Must be physically able to perform job duties with good eyesight (with/without correction) and good hearing (with/without correction).
Must fluently speak and read English using good grammar.
Bilingual skills are a plus, especially Spanish.
Good communication skills.
Ability to multitask as needed.
Ability to stand for long periods of time, climb, balance, stoop, and kneel.
Must be able to lift 25 to 40 pounds and move objects up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to continually bend, reach, twist, and use hands and arms.
Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
Private club experience preferred.
Excellent people management skills.
Must be alert, safety-conscious, and capable of responding calmly and swiftly in emergency situations.
Demonstrate professionalism, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Must be adaptable and flexible, with the ability to adjust to changing schedules, shifts, and priorities, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism, with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional service that exceeds member expectations.
Must have dependable transportation or the ability to arrive at work on time through other means.
Must pass a pre-employment background screening, drug testing, and E-Verify.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Five (5) or more years of experience in horticulture/landscaping.
Three (3) or more years of successful people management experience.
High school diploma/GED.
