SALARY: $39,749 to $55,648 Annually
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Interior Horticulturist is responsible for management of the conservatory and production greenhouses and assists with planting and maintenance of the annual flowerbeds. The plants produced will be for the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens grounds, conservatory, gardens in the Paul Smith Childrenโs Village, and for annual beds maintained by the City of Cheyenne. Responsibilities associated with interior horticulture include plant propagation, watering, fertilization, pest management, installation, plant grooming, and seasonal change out of plants. Work also consists of design of plant displays and assistance with interpretation. The Interior Horticulturist will be required to educate public about horticulture through on-site interaction, classes, and outreach education.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent AND a minimum of six months experience working in horticulture or a related field. Special consideration will be given to applicants that have a high level of energy, creativity, people skills, and experience working in public gardens.
Preferred:
Wyoming Pesticide Applicator License will be required within (1) year of employment. Once obtained this license must be maintained in good standing while employed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Essential and marginal duties require a high level of stamina and a good physical condition. Daily duties may include moderate lifting (up to 45 lbs.), carrying, walking, repeated bending, being on your feet for most of the day, working with garden tools, working outside during adverse conditions, operating mechanical equipment, operation of computers, the ability to distinguish colors and the ability to drive city vehicles safely.
Working Environment:
Work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environmental conditions; cold, warm, humid, hot air may regularly occur; exposure to radiant energy and inclement weather; exposure to fertilizers, agricultural chemicals, and pest control agents. Outdoor environments in different seasons.
