Adjunct Instructor - Floral Design non-credit

Provide weekly instruction and hands-on demonstrations creating simple to elaborate designs of bouquets, bridal bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, corsages, holiday designs, sympathy designs, vase arrangements, and complex larger designs.  

• Lead instruction in floral care, product and design techniques.  
• Prepare a new floral design each week for students to learn through in-class demonstration and instruction.
• Work with floral wholesalers on accurate class material orders.
• Build upon design abilities each week, increasing in complexities and expand floral/greens knowledge base and library.
• Teach predefined subject matter as assigned by the department. 
• Maintain course materials in the College’s Learning Management System (LMS), including, but not limited to, announcement, syllabus, and gradebook.
• Keep gradebook up to date and submit final grades by published deadlines. 
• Participate and actively cooperate with the department and Learning Unit to meet accreditation standards.
• Assist in facilitating student clinical and or lab experiences as assigned and applicable. 
• Participate in course assessments that will accurately measure achievement of student learning outcomes as assigned. 
• Complete training for various instructional delivery modalities as required.
• Maintain faculty credentials as required by the College’s accrediting agencies.
• Attend Faculty Development Days and/or Institutional Development Days as schedule permits and applicable.
• Participate in Learning Unit committees as schedule permits. 
• Other duties as assigned in compliance with the AAFMCC collective bargaining agreement. 

Equivalent experience in floral design will be considered in lieu of a degree with a minimum of ten years graduated experience in the floral industry.

Ten plus years in the Floral Industry as a designer and/or lead in floral design department or floral business owner/operator.  Portfolio of designs recommended.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience leading groups in floral design prep, care and design techniques.   Adept in explanation of floral products, live and hardscape.  Knowledge of botanical and common floral names and greens.  Ten plus years in the Floral Industry as a designer. Portfolio of designs recommended.
